Catwalk shows, performances, exhibitions, talks and activities centred around high-end children's fashion will act as a finale to the fashion week season next March.
The Global Kids Fashion Week schedule will feature two main shows: a media-only event showcasing the latest autumn/winter 2013 trends from the world's leading labels and a second event in aid of charity Kids Company. The second show, sponsored by premium childrenswear e-tailer AlexandAlexa.com , will be a ticketed show open to the public featuring the company's spring/summer 2013 collections. Proceeds from the show will go to helping underprivileged children across the UK through Kids Company.
"With this event, we aim to put children's fashion on the map worldwide," explained Alex Theophanous, founder and CEO of AlexandAlexa.com, which stocks over 200 global international fashion, sportswear and toy brands for children. "Kids' fashion is playful, fun and innovative - we all believe it deserves its own dedicated platform."
The luxury childrenswear market is thought to be worth £500 million in the UK alone, and London already plays host to Bubble, a childrenswear trade show, but Global Kids Fashion Week is unique in that it will be open to the public and will be mirrored with similar events in the Middle East, Australia and the USA. Brands such as Paul Smith and Junior Gaultier have already been confirmed.
Children and parents will have the opportunity to take part in workshops from the V&A Museum of Childhood and watch a performance from the London Children's Ballet.
P.S.What a incredible idea don't you think? We have Womens And Mens Fashion Week, why not for children?
