As loyal obsessives of the shoe designing legend, we’ve always found it a tad frustrating that until this year, Manolo Blahnik had only got one store in the UK. But today we got wind of some rather exciting news. Oh yes footwear fans, prepare to be excited. Mr B has been in talks with shoe mega-brand Kurt Geiger, who manage the footwear concessions for two of London’s oldest and favourite luxury department stores: Harrods and Liberty. Liberty successfully opened their Blahnik store earlier this year, and now it is onwards and upwards for the brand’s new relationship with Kurt Geiger.
Under Kurt Geiger’s management, a Manolo Blahnik boutique will be opening in Harrods come July – and with it will bring the new A/W12 collections. How exciting! The space in the Knightsbridge store which Marigay McKee, Harrods’ chief merchant has describes as a “decadent shrine to feet” will be a whopping 300 square feet in the Boudoir section on the first floor. Speaking to Footwear News Manolo said “I am very excited that my shoes will reach an even broader audience through Kurt Geiger in Liberty and Harrods. The Liberty opening has been very successful, and with Harrods being a store full of incredible heritage, seeing my shoes there in the next couple of months will be a special moment.”
