We've made no secret of our fascination with Charlotte Free. The grungy model from Los Angeles with a stomping catwalk strut was first discovered in 2010, while playing video games at a local arcade (how cool?). Since then, the elfin beauty has walked for Vivienne Westwood, Jeremy Scott and Roksanda Ilincic, but it was her bad-ass Tumblr that got us hooked and had us reaching for the fuchsia pink hair dye.
Earlier this month, Grazia Daily fawned over her attitude-y poses for US label Forever 21 and now we can reveal that she's bagged yet another campaign. Yup, Maybelline New York has just announced that La Free is to join their distinguished roster of glossy spokeswomen that includes Christy Turlington and Erin Wasson. WOW-EE, we love that the beauty brand is going down such an edgy route!
'Charlotte is the new generation of beauty,' says Damien Bertrand, Maybelline's Global Brand President. 'Her great energy and her unconventional style make her unique. Spontaneous, confident and daring, Charlotte is the perfect representative of the Maybelline New York woman.' Hear, hear. Charlotte sounds pretty stoked too: 'I am so excited to be the new face of Maybelline New York. It’s an honour to represent this truly iconic brand and a dream come true for me.'
We've got an exclusive sneaky peek at the TV campaign that Char is set to star in (coming soon) and our verdict? She makes THE perfect ambassador for the range of Colour Sensational Popstick lipsticks. She wears dramatic yellow eyeshadow in a superwoman stylee with three-tone hair (black roots, pale blondeness and peachy top-knot) plus bubblegum pink lips. And just to add to the daring approach, she's sporting a teeny-tiny black leotard with bondage-esque zipped-up neck. Hmm, we have an inkling that our fascination with with the exuberant star is set to stay...
