Alexander McQueen Opens Its First Boutique In China

Sarah Burton looked east for the opening of Alexander McQueen’s first boutique in China over the weekend.
The McQueen creative director flew to Beijing to attend the opening of the two-storey, 400-square-metre boutique in the city’s Sanlitun North Village.
On Saturday evening, the house restaged its A/W ’11 show for hundreds of media and fashion guests. A cast of Chinese models wore designs from the collection, titled ‘The Ice Queen and Her Court’. When originally presented in Paris in March 2011, the collection raised speculation that Burton was behind the royal wedding gown—a coup that would raise global awareness of the brand and pave the way for international expansion of the sort that brought it to China.
McQueen follows luxury peers Prada, Burberry and Christian Dior to Asia. Executives at Burberry, which staged a special effects spectacular in Beijing earlier this year, have said that the future of China and the future of the house are ‘inseparable’. Prada expects its sales in the Asian powerhouse to triple over the next two to three years.

The Best Bags Of F/W 2011 Season

Above I'm posting images of bags, which British Vogue on its homepage , thought of as a must-have accessorie this season.
Of course I wasn't able to post each and every, (as there were 100 of them) but I picked the one that I thought were the most interesting and unique.
When you’re in a hurry, a bag that can house everything is top of your wish list. Wish no further and throw everything in here – but be rest assured, you won’t look chaotic on the outside

Loewe -
Orange isn’t the easiest of colours to wear when it comes to clothes. But it’s a different story when it comes to accessories

Topshop - Winter is the time to embrace texture. Do so with this vintage-style satchel.
Givenchy -
This is one of those bags that will make for quite the talking point: “What’s that on your bag?” To which you can reply Givenchy’s panthers. Enough said and everyone will be impressed.

Miu Miu -
Statement clasps are like jewellery in their own right, which means your bag will get all the more admiration. Too right.
Christopher Kane -
These bags have been at the top of everyone’s wish lists this season
- Sleek and grown-up, this is the sort of bag we see worn with a crisp white shirt and perfectly coiffed hair.
Bowling bags were put back on the map thanks to the Celine autumn/winter 2011-12 collection. It’s sleek, kind of manly and that’s why we like it.

It always pays to invest in a bag that is just as practical as it is smart. This one ticks both those boxes, but will also look suitably cool when it’s on the more battered side of life

- Michael Kors is the man behind understated chic, but the main word to take note of here is chic. This bag is on our 100 list for that exact reason
Proving he does more than just pretty dresses and accompanying accessories, Mr Wu gives us substantial bags too.

                                                                                           VICTORIA BECKHAM -
Every girl needs a classic handbag. Look no further.
- What's not to fall for here? There's something so fresh in the pistachio shade and so smart in the shape. Hint hint.

Everyone loves a Chanel bag. This, though a little more industrial-looking than its quilted numbers, is still pulling on our Art Deco heart strings

Poland Fashion Week S/S 2012 - BohoBoco

The majority of my posts relate to a world-wide known celebrity-sightings/ fashion news, but since
Poland Fashion Week just started, I thought it would be a perfect time to introduce you to the most talented, young Polish designers.
First of Bohoboco.

Bohoboco was created by two polish designers Michał Gilbert Lach and Kamil Owczarek. Even though the label is new, they made quite a big buzz about themselves in Warsaw fashion environment.Bohoboco’s designs are very simple in their complicated way. The label combines all cosmopolitan tastes imaginable: New York ease, London avant-garde, Parisian elegance, and Milanese Dolce Vita. All this and little bit more made me fall in love with Bohoboco. The comfortable but classy clothes are perfect for the every day basics, which create its unique, but not over dressed, look.
Their newest S/S 2012 collection is filled with ethnic inspirations - ethereal muslins along with long, transparent skirts and minimalistic, assymetrical shirts - everything in delicate, subdued colour palette.

Halloween Goes Fashionable

As anyone who has attempted to dash to a fancy dress shop over the lunch hour this week can attest, Halloween has gone into overdrive. Maybe it’s the glut of star-impersonation opportunities (we know people dressing up as Nicki Minaj and Sophia Grace, Nicki Minaj’s Essex-based mini-fan), or perhaps it’s just that Halloween is the one time of the year when non-fashion types get to embrace extravagant dressing. Not that fashion types are taking it easy—Pam Hogg, the Broken Hearts DJs and Gizzi Erskine are hosting a ‘We’re Already Dead’-themed party at the Hoxton Pony tonight. In short, exceeding the acceptable trick-or-treating age isn’t stopping anyone. It certainly isn’t stopping Kate and Laura Mulleavy. The sisters behind Rodarte are hosting a Halloween party in their California neighbourhood. They’re so invested in the bash that they spent their single day off between engagements in Brazil and New York ‘check[ing] in on my Halloween decorations’ in LA.Although the sisters’ home-sewing skills might put the rest of our improvised fancy dress efforts to shame, neither has settled on a costume.‘Someone asked me the other day, “Are you dressing up as Black Swan?” And I was like, “No, but I know how you can get one because they sell [the costumes] now,”’ Laura told WWD.
