Coco Chanel’s decade-long romance with English aristocrat Boy Capel yielded some of her most recognisable touchstones, from fisherman-style Breton stripes to masculine blazers.
Now, Chanel is celebrating the legacy of one of its founder’s earliest supporters with a new handbag.
Boy Chanel is a family of compact leather bags with squared corners and burnished hardware. It’s full of details that place it alongside the label’s more recognisable bags—note the glazed calfskin construction, subtle CHANEL stitching on top, and double-C clasp. Plus, the extra-long chain doubles up for cross-body or shoulder bag wear.
This Boy is rather mannish, not to mention discreet and all kinds of tempting.
‘Chanel used men’s underwear to make dresses; she had this boyish attitude, in fact it is the very spirit of Chanel,’ Karl Lagerfeld said in a release. ‘She got it from Boy Capel, the great love of her life.’
The new family of bags bows into Chanel boutiques in September.
