Last night in NYC's Rockefeller Center was a held a very important event. The world's top international collectors, philanthropists, celebrities, and designers gathered to raise money for environmental education and awareness programs. The designers also have agreed to participate in the Natural Resources Defense Council's Clean by Design program, which will teach them how to integrate greener practices into many aspects of their businesses, from raw materials, fabric finishing and production, to packaging, recycling and shipping.
26 designers(including Jason Wu, Alexander Wang and Rachel Roy) and three jewellery designers created a unique looks for a
one-of-a-kind runway show, after which they were
available on Net-A-Porter.com,with proceeds going directly to a certain enviromental organizations.
This shows that fashion industry is not as closed for a 'green concept' as everybody thinks.
"It's part of being a good global citizen," designer Tommy Hilfiger says, "and fashion is a global business. ... If we can all get together, all of us, I think we have enough influence."
